Politics and Sports Betting

In 1992, Congress passed the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act which banned sports betting in all but four states. Now most people know that Nevada is one of the four states but even hardcore gamblers would be hard pressed to name the other three states that currently and legally allow sports betting: Delaware, Oregon and Montana. Who knew Montana was such a hotbed for sports betting?

On May 24, 2012, Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey announced that he plans on moving forward to defy this federal law and allow sports betting to take place in his state beginning in the fall of 2012. Voters in Jersey have voted almost 2 to 1 in favor of allowing sports betting in the state so it seems as if Governor Christie is simply listening to his constituency. In addition the New Jersey state legislature has passed a sports betting law and Christie signed it into law. Despite all the action taken by Christie and others to begin sports betting in New Jersey, it isn’t a slam dunk that it will happen.

Keep in mind that if New Jersey begins to allow sports betting, that flies right in the face of breaking the federal law of 1992. The Department of Justice has not commented on the actions taken so far in New Jersey but it would be foolish to think they will allow a state to openly defy a federal law that has been on the books for over two decades. Hopefully, there are people for the DOJ working behind the scenes with Governor Christie and others to find a solution that works for everyone to allow sports betting in New Jersey. Should that happen, it would be surprising not to see other states jumping on the sports betting bandwagon.

Regardless of where you do your sports betting, you should accept a few things as gospel to your successful gambling. First, you need to do your homework. You cannot open a newspaper the morning of a big game and expect to put some money down and think that’s the method to consistent winnings. There is a reason gamblers use the term “smart money”. You hear it all the time: ‘Smart money’ says take the under; ‘smart money’ loves the road dogs. Let me ask you – exactly who do you think is “smart money”? I’ll tell you. It is the gamblers who have a successful betting system that win consistently that make up the smart money.

So what is one of the common denominators for these smart money gamblers? Many use the Sports Betting System at www.AllsportsBettingSystem.com to place their bets. It is a proven, successful system for your sports betting. It will provide you with consistency in your sports betting. Utilizing this system will increase your chances of each bet you place and before long will make you the smart money.
