I certainly don't think it is fragile. You still have to tie them and I sometimes tighten the lower laces but you really don't have too. I'm also in the market for a new pair of rollerblades to replace my (very) heavy CCM's and am leaning more towards K2 over Rollerblades. However, I came across several articles that mentioned how "fragile" the quick lace system of the K2's are.
